Jermaine Eluemunor will play
The New York Giants will be short-handed at cornerback Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Giants will be without starting cornerback Cor’Dale Flott (groin) and backup Adoree’ Jackson (neck). Tre Hawkins (ankle) will be active, but is expected to only be used in an emergency.
Greg Stroman, a sixth-year player who signed with the Giants practice squad Oct. 1, will be elevated to the active roster for his first action as a Giant. Stroman has played in 20 career games for the Washington Commanders and Chicago Bears, with three starts.
Deonte Banks, Andru Phillips and Nick McCloud will be the Giants starting cornerbacks. Isaiah Simmons, who has played just 71 defensive snaps this season, is a potential backup at slot cornerback. He has played 40 snaps there this season.
Jackson will be out for a second consecutive game. Flott and Hawkins were injured Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Giants also elevated edge defender Tomon Fox for Monday’s game. This is Fox’s third and final elevation. To have him on the game day roster going forward, the Giants would need to add him to the 53-man roster.
Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor, who promised to play despite limited practice time durint the week due to a hip injury, will do just that. Eluemunor is active.
Second-year defensive tackle Jordon Riley will be inactive. Veteran defensive tackle Armon Watts, added to the 53-man roster last week, will take his spot in the Giants’ defensive line rotation.
