Can Brock Purdy lead 49ers to win over Cowboys on Sunday Night Football
Matchups between the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys used to be what the NFL lived for in the 90s. However, with the 49ers at 3-4 and Cowboys at 3-3, this matchup doesn’t have the same aura as it had before the season. In a must-win game for both teams, this game will wrap up the Sunday slate in Week 8.
The Cowboys will be coming off of their bye week and don’t have an impressive win on their resume. Prior to the bye, they lost 47-9 to the Detroit Lions at home. Owner Jerry Jones hasn’t been pleased with the offense and the Cowboys have since activated running back Dalvin Cook from the practice squad. Quarterback Dak Prescott will need to show up on the big stage.
To say that the 49ers are experiencing a Super Bowl hangover would be an understatement. The loser of the Super Bowl over the last few years has experienced the repercussions of that loss the following season and the 49ers have been no exception. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is now out for the season which only adds to San Francisco’s problems.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the 49ers are 5.5-point favorites at home against the Cowboys. That seems like a big line, but this game may not be close. The Cowboys have shown multiple times this season that they simply are not a good football team. I would expect the 49ers to not only win this game, but win comfortably and cover the spread.
The Pick: 49ers (-5.5)
Season Record: 10-14
