5 takeaways from the Bills’ 31-10 win over the Seahawks

The Buffalo Bills went across the country and took care of business, topping the Seattle Seahawks in a convincing 31-10 final.

The Bills (6-2) now look to be the clear-cut favorite, and potentially already the winner, of the AFC East at this point of the year.

With that, here are Bills Wire’s five takeaways from the win that was:

James Cook has a day

Running back James Cook had a field day out in Seattle. Cook’s efforts led to two touchdowns for him and 111 yards on the ground. His outing kept the Seahawks defense honest and they could not handle the Bills’ two dimensional offense.

Under the surface, it’s important to note he did not fumble the ball either. In such a poor weather day, there was always that possibility.

Receiver trickle down continues

The Amari Cooper trade paid dividends for the Bills in Seattle but not from Cooper himself. With an opposing defense having to account for Cooper, it allows others to shine. This time the trickle-down effect from the trade reached both Keon Coleman and Khalil Shakir.

Shakir led the Bills with 107 yards and nine catches. Coleman had 70 yards on five grabs and added a one-handed touchdown.

Offensive line was important

What really allowed the offense to roll was the play in the trenches. The Bills offensive line had a very strong performance, perhaps their best of the entire season. Quarterback Josh Allen was only sacked one time for a loss of two yards. That was the only time he was hit in the entire game.

Meanwhile, the ground game speaks for itself. Buffalo averaged 4.8 yards per carry as a team and Cook was at 6.5 himself.

Took advantage of mistakes

Some were self produced by the Seahawks but the Bills defense managed to make positive plays throughout this one. Early on, goal line stands gave Buffalo a big edge early which helped them pull away on the scoreboard. The defensive line popped in with big contributions to make that happen.

Pass rusher Greg Rousseau was convincing again, knocking away two passes and notching two tackles for loss. Defensive tackle Austin Johnson had the head turner: His first-career interception for the lineman.

Biggest win of the yeaer?

The Bills have had some solid wins so far in 2024. On the road against the Miami Dolphins was nice but nothing really compares to this one just yet. Buffalo went across the country and handled a team that really needed a win and who were playing some good football themselves. That’s impressive.
