Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 10/26/24
You can see Albert Breer’s tweet below but according to him the Los Angeles Rams would like to see calls such as facemask penalties become reviewable and it makes sense. When the LA Rams lost to the Chicago Bears earlier this season it was on a game sealing interception by Matthew Stafford, however during that play Stafford was seemingly hit in the head and it should have drawn a game saving flag. No flag was thrown.
Flash forward to just this past Thursday and the Rams beat the Minnesota Vikings on a sack that probably should’ve been called off by a game saving face mask penalty, but no flag was thrown and the Rams won.
For all the fans and observers who are upset about that no-call, do you know who agrees with you? As mentioned above it’s the LA Rams (though maybe not on this past Thursday). Apparently, the Rams have been trying to get facemask calls, blows to the head and other plays/potential penalties reviewable, but it has not happened.
The irony in this missed call: The Rams sent proposals to the competition committee in each of the last 3 years to make penalties on facemasks to QBs, blows to the head and roughing the passer reviewable.

Pretty interesting, right? So, for everyone upset about the call I hear you, the Rams hear you, but if you are looking for sympathy then I think you’re watching the wrong sport. You win or you lose and the rest is likely to get lost like tears in the rain.

Vikings-Rams facemask controversy: NFL official explains why refs did not penalize L.A. for end-zone face mask (cbssports)
“The Los Angeles Rams’ Week 8 victory over the Minnesota Vikings ended in controversy, as Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold was sacked in the end zone for a safety while attempting to engineer a game-tying drive. Rams linebacker Byron Young grabbed Darnold by the face mask during the sack, but it was not noticed by officials.
After the game, PFWA Pool Reporter Calvin Watkins had the opportunity to interview referee Tra Blake. Blake explained that his crew did not have a good look at Darnold’s face mask being pulled. Here’s the full transcript from Watkins’ discussion with Blake, per NFL Media:”

Why NFL analyst believes trading Kupp to 49ers makes sense for Rams (nbcsports.yahoo.com)
“With the NFL’s Nov. 5 trade deadline less than two weeks away, many anticipate San Francisco looking to add another wide receiver after losing Brandon Aiyuk to a season-ending knee injury in the Week 7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
One wide receiver who could be available to the 49ers is Los Angeles Rams star Cooper Kupp, who The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, Mike Silver and Jourdan Rodrigue reported Tuesday, citing sources, has been discussed in trades with multiple teams.
We know what you’re thinking: The Rams never would trade Kupp to an NFC West division rival.
While the 49ers trading for Kupp might be unlikely, ESPN’s Seth Walder believes it makes sense for the Rams and would be their best option.”

Rams’ Joshua Karty: Nails all four PAT’s (cbssports)
“The rookie kicker wasn’t asked to do much against the Vikings, but Karty was able to shake the nerves off after two straight weeks with a missed PAT and drilled all four of his extra-point attempts. Karty’s next task will be handling the imposing crowd of the division rival Seahawks in a Week 9, and he’ll look to return to his perfect field-goal kicking form he had in Weeks 1-3.”
