The Vikings got the football first and wasted no time getting the ball down the field, pushing into Rams territory thanks to Aaron Jones and Justin Jefferson. During the drive, Justin Jefferson gained enough yardage to pass Jake Reed for fifth place all-time in Minnesota Vikings’ history, so congratulations to him!
After setting the record, Sam Darnold found Jefferson down to the Rams’ 5-yard line. From there, Darnold found Josh Oliver for a 5-yard touchdown pass to put the Vikings ahead, 7-0.

The Rams very quickly responded thanks to some big chunk plays from Kyren Williams and the returning Puka Nucua. They finished things off with a 5-yard touchdown pass of their own, as Matthew Stafford found Kyren Williams for a score to tie things up at 7-7 with just under seven minutes left in the quarter.
The Vikings’ offense went out and pushed things down the field again and got themselves into the Rams’ red zone again, and Darnold got his second touchdown pass of the night, finding. . .Trent Sherfield? Yes, Trent Sherfield for a 10-yard score to make it 14-7 with less than a minute left in the quarter.
