The Detroit Lions swept the FedEx Air and Ground awards in Week 7, as Jared Goff and Jahmyr Gibbs were recognized.
Each week in the NFL, FedEx sponsors the fan-voted Air and Ground awards, recognizing the accomplishments of offensive production from the previous week. In Week 7, the Detroit Lions swept the awards, as quarterback Jared Goff and running back Jahmyr Gibbs came away as the two award winners for the week.

Goff has been on a hot streak and even squaring off against the Vikings’ No. 1 defense in the NFL couldn’t slow him down. He would finish the game with 22 completions on 25 passing attempts, registering 280 yards for two touchdowns and zero interceptions. His passer rating was 140.0, marking the third consecutive game where Goff has hit or exceeded that passer rating.
“It’s what he’s got here (points to head) and what he’s got here (points to his heart),” coach Dan Campbell said of Goff after the victory in Minnesota. “That’s what makes him a dangerous player and it’s what makes him really one of these guys that you can build around because he’s a winner, man. He will find a way to win. He’ll find a way to put the offense in a position to win the game. He doesn’t get frazzled. He’s tough. He’s competitive. And he’s reliable. He’s reliable. And I love the guy, man. And once again, he steps up huge for us there on the road, division game.”
Meanwhile, Gibbs exploded against the Vikings. With 19 total touches (15 rushes and four receptions) Gibbs registered 160 all-purpose yards and scored two touchdowns. The Vikings simply had no answer for him.
“He was huge. He was huge,” Campbell said of the second-year running back. “Whatever it was, 160 all-purpose yards. Came to life. We felt like Gibby has been so close to just exploding, and we felt like this was the game. He really came to life when we needed it most. He helped across the board.”
In addition to Goff and Gibbs taking home these awards, Lions kicker Jake Bates also took home the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
