Can the Steelers stay at the top of the AFC North?
Sunday Night Football will showcase the debut of Russel Wilson as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback after recovering from aggravating a calf injury during training camp. It also will be Devante Adams’ first game after being traded to the New York Jets to reconnect with Aaron Rodgers.
The Steelers’ 4-2 record is a testament to how good their defense has been this season. They have only allowed 14.3 points per game so far this season (second lowest in the NFL). That will win you games even when you have the 20th-ranked scoring offense.
The Jets led by Rodgers are 2-4 and fired their head coach before last week. Now they went out and got Rodgers’ favorite target from back in Green Bay. The quarterback and team are running out of excuses as expectations were sky-high coming into the year. They are actually the 23rd ranked scoring offense, so they have been worse than the Justin Fields led Steelers offense.
The Jets defense has been pulling its weight. They have allowed the second-fewest yards per game and seventh-best scoring defense (18 points per game). Defense was former head coach Robert Saleh’s specialty. You have to look at the Rodgers built and run offense for issues as he has his guys, despite him saying he has no say.
FanDuel has the Jets favored by 2.5 points.
