Coach doesn’t take issue with star receiver’s post-game comments
New York Giants coach Brian Daboll did not take issue on Monday with a frustrated Malik Nabers saying “Watch the tape … I was open” after getting only four catches in Sunday’s 28-3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Look, when you lose a game like that I hope people are frustrated,” Daboll said. “He was open a lot.
“If he said he was open, he was open quite a bit.”
Daboll also did not take issue with the decisions quarterback Daniel Jones made with the ball.
Daboll said “yeah,” when asked if Jones made good decisions vs. the Eagles, adding “and he took care of it [the ball].”
“There’s always a few in there where the defense might get you, or disguise, or it looks like something and there’s a reason behind why we do what we do. But, look, he’s taken care of the ball, he’s made the right decisions for the most part.”
Nabers was targeted eight times with four receptions for 41 yards. In his previous four games, the No. 6 overall pick averaged a league-high 13.0 targets per game and had 35 receptions, 8.75 per game.
