The New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers will battle it out on the latest installment of “Sunday Night Football.” Come chat with us in our open thread.
The New York Jets are in primetime… again. For the fifth time in seven games, the Jets will be on national television, this time traveling to Acrisure Stadium (colloquially known as Heinz Field) to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Despite these two teams both residing in the AFC, they have only faced off 27 times in their histories, with Pittsburgh leading the regular season series 18-7, while also holding a 2-0 lead in playoff games.
The Jets (2-4) have been less than impressive this season, with their only wins coming against the Titans and Patriots, while losing games to the 49ers, Broncos, Vikings, and Bills. They fired their head coach, but that didn’t get them a win, so quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw wide receiver Mike Williams under the bus, and management traded for Davante Adams.
The Steelers (4-2) came out of the gate hot, winning their first three games of the season, dropping their next two, and getting back to their winning ways against the Raiders last week. In a weird twist of fate, because Davante Adams previously played for the Raiders, the Steelers will face Adams for two consecutive weeks.
Betting line and pick for the game
Despite having a worse record, the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook have tabbed New York the favorites and set the betting line at Jets -1.5 points.
The Steelers’ offense has underwhelmed this season, and there figures to be an acclimation process now that the Steelers have decided to swap quarterbacks, benching Justin Fields and turning to Russell Wilson. The Jets’ defense will surely give them problems, and it may only take a couple of scores from the Jets’ offense to get a lead the Steelers can’t catch.
Prediction: Jets 24-14
