Checking in on the 2024 NFL Draft class.
The Eagles improved to 4-2 after beating down the New York Giants, 28 to 3. A strong running game and even stronger defensive play kept the G-Men at bay and kept the Eagles rolling. Here’s a look at how members of the Eagles’ 2024 NFL Draft class performed.
Quinyon Mitchell: B+
Mitchell turned in another impressive performance. While the pass rush helped the secondary, Mitchell looked great in coverage on the Giants speedy receivers. Even while covering rookie phenom Malik Nabers, Mitchell held it down and almost had a pick on a vertical play that he instead dropped. This is the type of sticky coverage we’ve come to expect from the talented rookie. Next step: actually catching the ball!
Cooper DeJean: A
The low point of the game was getting stiff armed by Daniel Jones (on a play that resulted in a third down stop anyway). Besides that, DeJean was excellent on defense both as a run and a pass defender. Where he really showed up was on special teams, having two really solid punt returns (long of 28). If early work is any indication, DeJean is going to be an asset on an improving defense.
The Rest
- Jalyx Hunt had an unblocked sack where he forced a fumble late in the game. He was simply too fast for the Giants to account for. Garbage time play, but a fun one.
- Jeremiah Trotter Jr. got a few snaps late with he second team defense and looked solid.
- Will Shipley took some late game carries with the second team offense. He didn’t really show much though, logging eight runs for 15 yards in obvious rushing situations.
