Eagles-Giants Final Injury Report: Jordan Mailata to injured reserve, Darius Slay questionable

Week 7 game status updates.

The Philadelphia Eagles issued their third and final official injury report on Friday in advance of their Week 7 road game against the New York Giants.

The Eagles ruled three players OUT: Jordan Mailata, Dallas Goedert, and Byron Young.

The Eagles officially placed Mailata on injured reserve, which means he’ll automatically miss the team’s next four games. He’s eligible to return in Week 11 at the earliest. With Mailata out, the Eagles will start Fred Johnson at left tackle. Johnson struggled in his last start, which was at right tackle against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Giants’ pass rush, which is actually good for the first time in forever, figures to be a major test for Johnson.

Goedert’s absence means the Eagles are currently down to two tight ends on the active roster: Grant Calcaterra and Jack Stoll. Calcaterra has struggled as a blocker but he’s shown some juice as a pass-catcher. He figures to be TE1. Stoll isn’t as much of a factor in the passing game but he can block. The Eagles could look to activate Albert Okwuegbunam from injured reserve to be their third tight end. Alternatively, they can temporarily elevate E.J. Jenkins or C.J. Uzomah from the practice squad.

Young was unexpectedly added to the injury report on Thursday. The Eagles might also put him on IR to free up a roster spot.

The Eagles ruled two players QUESTIONABLE: Darius Slay and Eli Ricks.

Slay fully participated on Friday after being limited on Wednesday and not practicing on Thursday. Guessing he’ll be able to go but perhaps he’s going to be a game-time decision. Isaiah Rodgers figures to start in his place if he can’t suit up.

Ricks unexpectedly popped up on the injury report this week. He also seems like a candidate to go on injured reserve if the Eagles want to open a roster spot.

Jalen Carter is notably listed without a status after missing Thursday’s practice. He was full go on Friday. Good news.

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES INJURY REPORT (FRIDAY)

OUT

TE Dallas Goedert (hamstring)
OT Jordan Mailata (hamstring)
DT Byron Young (hamstring)

QUESTIONABLE

CB Eli Ricks (groin)
CB Darius Slay (knee)

RESERVE/PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO PERFORM (PUP)

S Sydney Brown (practice window activated)

The Eagles opened Brown’s 21-day practice window on October 7. If the Eagles want Brown to play against the Giants, they’ll have to activate him to the active roster before 4:00 PM Eastern on Saturday, October 19.

RESERVE/INJURED

DB James Bradberry IV
OT Le’Raven Clark
WR Britain Covey
OT Jordan Mailata
TE Albert Okwuegbunam Jr. (practice window activated)
WR Ainias Smith (practice window activated)

The Eagles opened Smith’s practice window on October 7. They might not be in a rush to immediately activate him for Week 7 since he’s down the depth chart anyway. The Eagles opened Okwuegbunam’s practice window on October 16. The Eagles might want to activate him this week to have a third tight end behind Calcaterra and Stoll. Bradberry is eligible to have his practice window opened if/when the Eagles choose to do so. Covey is eligible to be activated after Week 8 but he said his shoulder injury could take a little longer than that to heal. Clark is out for the season since he was placed on IR back in May.

NEW YORK GIANTS INJURY REPORT (FRIDAY)

Rookie standout Malik Nabers is ready to play after missing two games due to a concussion. Containing him figures to be a challenge for the Eagles.

Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns are officially questionable but they both said they expect to play.

Punter Jamie Gillan and veteran role player Adoree’ Jackson were both ruled out.

OUT

P Jamie Gillan (left hamstring)
CB Adoree’ Jackson (neck)

QUESTIONABLE

OLB Brian Burns (groin)
S Dane Belton (illness)
DT Dexter Lawrence (hip)

RESERVE/INJURED

K Graham Gano
LB Dyontae Johnson
WR Gunner Olszewski
S Elijah Riley

Giants starting left tackle Andrew Thomas, starting edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, and kicker Graham Gano are notably on IR.
