A lot of Bengals fans are worried.
- Deshaun Watson is down bad.
Forget off-the-field matters. The Cleveland Browns QB is simply a terrible passer right now, by every metric you can imagine.
As Bill Barnwell pointed out, Watson is:
- dead last in total QBR (21.5)
- being sacked on a league-high 12.4% of his dropbacks
- only 3 of 17 for 77 yards on deep passes, the second fewest deep completions in the league
But not only is he bad by 2024 standards. He’s historically bad.
Barnwell adds that, from the 566 passers through six weeks since 2007, Watson is:
- 558 in QBR
- 565 in yards per dropback (3.9)
- 565 in yards per attempt (5.1)
- 566 in first down rate (22.1%)
The Cleveland QB is also dead last in the league in cumulative EPA on dropbacks through the first six weeks since 2000.
Finally, as John Sheeran pointed out on our show, Watson hasn’t converted a third down in his last 26 attempts!
So what does all that add up to?
Regression to the mean. At least that’s what Bengals fans are worried about.
So what do you think?
