It’ll be a battle of rookie quarterbacks and great defenses as the New Orleans Saints take on the Denver Broncos.

The Broncos carry a 3-3 record with Bo Nix at quarterback, and are coming off a 23-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The Saints, meanwhile, are 2-4 and suffered a 51-27 drubbing at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Spencer Rattler’s first start.

Rattler was forced into the starting line up after an injury to Derek Carr, and he’s in line to start again with Carr listed as doubtful. Rattler will be without receiver Chris Olave, who’s going through the concussion protocol. That’s a rough break for a rookie going against one of the very best defenses in the NFL.

Nix, meanwhile, hasn’t been as successful as Caleb Williams or Jayden Daniels, but he’s shown grit and fire over the first six games of his career.

The Broncos are 2.5-point favorites on the road per FanDuel Sportsbook.

Chris’ pick: I’m going with the Broncos — and no, it’s not just because I was a fan of Nix before the draft.

Nix hasn’t been lighting up the scoreboard, but he’s been doing enough for the Broncos to win, and came on in a comeback attempt against the Chargers last week. More importantly, the Broncos’ defense has been excellent this year, and they could have a fantastic game against a beat-up Saints squad.

Rattler had flashes of impressive play, but this is a tough draw for his second game and some of the Saints’ best players injured.
