The Rams have the best third down conversion rate since Week 4
Not a lot has gone right for the L.A. Rams this season, either on offense or defense, but one positive takeaway would be how the Rams are doing on third downs. Overall, the Rams rank 17th on third down this season. However, that number has gone up in recent weeks and L.A. is a top-10 third down team since Week 3, converting 18 of 39 third down attempts for a percentage of 46.2%.
As bad as bad football is to watch, it’s a lot harder to watch when a team is converting 14.3% of their third down attempts. That’s the Miami Dolphins third down conversion rate in the same period of time. The Patriots are at 26.4%, the Broncos at 26%, and the Browns at 22.4%.
This is one power that Matthew Stafford, Kyren Williams, and Sean McVay do have.
If the #Rams ever trade Stafford, I’ll never forgive them. And it’ll lead to turmoil for years considering they don’t have a successor plan in place.
It’s a move you make when you may have already drafted his replacement and let him learn for weeks/months/a year. Not when you…

The Rams had a bye week, so they have played one less game than a lot of teams, but there’s hope to be found in their rate of third and fourth down conversions. The Rams have converted 4-of-6 fourth down attempts since Week 3, and that’s tied for the seventh-most fourth down conversions in that period of time. Of course, Stafford doesn’t to get to fourth down, but at least they’ve converted 66%.
This one stat may not be enough to salvage optimism about a 1-4 start, certainly the Rams have so much to improve on, but somewhere in the darkness is a little beam of light.
