Johnson returns to Cincinnati.
The Cincinnati Bengals have signed defensive end Raymond Johnson III to the practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.
Johnson, weighing in at 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, is a second-year player out of Georgia Southern. He was originally a college free agent signee of the New York Giants in 2021. He played in 15 games as a rookie for the Giants, totaling four tackles with one sack, then spent the past two seasons on the practice squads of Cincinnati (2022) and Detroit (’23).
Johnson spent this past offseason with the San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars before being waived by the Jaguars on final cuts. He was not with an NFL team during the first six weeks of the 2024 regular season.
Johnson takes a practice squad spot, which opened yesterday when defensive end Isaiah Thomas signed with the Detroit Lions.
With this, the Bengals’ 16-man practice squad is now full again.
