Bills release Marquez Valdes-Scantling after trade for Amari Cooper
There evidently was not enough room in the world of the Buffalo Bills for both Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Amari Cooper.
Just hours after agreeing to acquire Cooper in a trade with the Cleveland Browns, the Bills have announced that Valdes-Scantling has been released:
As is always the case when adding a player, someone has to make room for them on the roster.
Valdes-Scantling being let go does make plenty of sense for the Bills, though. Despite some hope around him when he was signed this past offseason, his production was not high.
In six games with the Bills, Valdes-Scantling caught only two balls on nine targets for 26 yards. On top of that, Valdes-Scantling did not contribute on special teams which was likely an even bigger factor when deciding to release him.
Bills Wire will continue to provide updates on all roster decisions throughout the 2024 season.
