A bad night gets worse for the Giants with Andrew Thomas injured
New York Giants star offensive tackle Andrew Thomas apparently suffered a foot injury during the Giants 17-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football. He’ll be going for an MRI on Monday and neither Thomas nor the Giants have a sense of the injury as of this writing.
Thomas was clearly struggling to move and in pain late in the game. He said after the game that he was injured on the Giants’ scoring drive in the third quarter and was just “fighting” by the end of the game.
We’ll monitor the situation and update when we know more.
punt returner Ihmir Smith-Marsette is questionable to return with a foot injury. He left the field in the middle of the second quarter of Sunday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Smith-Marsette later returned after Adoree Jackson briefly took over as punt returner.
Smith-Marsette left the field after grabbing his leg following a tackle on a punt return with 11:11 left in the second quarter.
Injuries on special teams have been a thorn in the side of the Giants this year. The Giants originally signed Smith-Marsette following an injury to Gunner Olszewski, and he’s averaged 9.4 yards per return for the Giants. The Giants have also lost kicker Graham Gano and are without punter Jamie Gillan for this game.
We’ll see how they respond if Smith-Marsette misses significant time or is forced out of the game.
Safety Jason Pinnock was previously ruled questionable to return with a left knee injury, but only missed a single series after going back to the Giants’ locker room for X-rays.
