Can Aaron Rodgers lead Jets to victory on Monday Night Football?
The Buffalo Bills and New York Jets will wrap up the Week 6 NFL slate on Monday Night Football. It will be an important AFC East matchup with the winner taking control of first place in the division. The Bills have lost two straight to fall to 3-2 after starting the season as one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Meanwhile, the Jets are 2-3 and have also lost their last two games.
It will be up to quarterback Josh Allen to right the Bills’ ship against the Jets. Allen has thrown eight touchdowns to zero interceptions in 2024. However, Allen completed just nine of 30 passes last week against the Houston Texans. The Bills quarterback simply has not been able to get on the same page with his receivers over the last few weeks.
On the other side, the Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh earlier this week and will hope that provides a spark. The Jets looked to be back after wins against the Patriots and Titans. They have since come back down, losing 10-9 to the Broncos and trailed 17-0 before falling 23-17 to the Vikings in London. The Jets offense could also look different as Nathaniel Hackett is no longer the play-call.
Monday Night will mark the fourth meeting between Rodgers and Allen. In games that Rodgers has started and finished, they are tied 1-1. It was last year’s game in which Rodgers left the game after tearing his achilles.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Bills are 1.5-point favorites on the road. Their two losses this season have come to the Ravens and Texans, but they haven’t looked very good in either game. The Bills have also lost each of their last two games at MetLife. I’m leaning the home team here and going with the Jets. After firing Saleh, it may be the wake up call that this team needed. The Bills are also dealing with a lot of injuries.
The Pick: Jets (+1.5)
Season Record: 9-10
