The Giants’ punt returner leaves the field
New York Giants punt returner Ihmir Smith-Marsette is questionable to return with a foot injury. He left the field in the middle of the second quarter of Sunday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Smith-Marsette left the field after grabbing his leg following a tackle on a punt return with 11:11 left in the second quarter.
Injuries on special teams have been a thorn in the side of the Giants this year. The Giants originally signed Smith-Marsette following an injury to Gunner Olszewski, and he’s averaged 9.4 yards per return for the Giants. The Giants have also lost kicker Graham Gano and are without punter Jamie Gillan for this game.
We’ll see how they respond if Smith-Marsette misses significant time or is forced out of the game.
Safety Jason Pinnock was previously ruled questionable to return with a left knee injury, but only missed a single series after going back to the Giants’ locker room for X-rays.
