Week 6 updates.
The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced two roster moves ahead of their Week 6 home game against the Cleveland Browns. An overview:
- WR Parris Campbell was signed from the practice squad to the active roster.
- OL Jack Driscoll was temporarily elevated from the practice squad.
Note: teams can temporarily promote practice squad players up to three times each in the regular season and an unlimited number of times in the postseason.
Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.
PARRIS CAMPBELL
The Eagles already maxed out Campbell’s practice squad elevations over their last three games. So, they had to sign him to their roster to have him available on game day.
The Eagles are getting A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith back against the Browns but the team decided they want more depth at wide receiver. Campbell, Jahan Dotson, and Johnny Wilson are the options behind the top two.
Campbell has been targeted six times this season. He has six catches for 30 yards and one touchdown.
JACK DRISCOLL
Driscoll’s elevation is unexpected. The Eagles apparently decided they want more offensive line depth. Of course, they’ll hope to not have to use him.
NOTABLE NON-MOVES
The Eagles opened 21-day practice windows for both Sydney Brown and Ainias Smith earlier this week. But neither of them were activated to the roster in time for Sunday’s game against the Browns.
We’ll see if the Eagles activate either of them before next weekend’s road game against the New York Giants.
