One of the most relevant recent rivalries in the NFC are scheduled for another matchup tonight.
And we are off for Week 6, as the Seattle Seahawks (+ 148) host the San Francisco 49ers (- 176) in Lumen Field. Despite not having home field advantage, missing their starting kicker, and running back Christian McCaffrey still not ready, the Niners open as 3.5-point favourites, with the OU for the game at a generous 48.5.
The Niners blew a 13-point halftime lead against the Cardinals last week, as Brock Purdy struggled throughout the entire game and Kyler Murray hurt their defense on the ground and through the air. At 2-3 and without their best player in CMC, their season is close to taking a turn for the worse. They also have a brutal seven game stretch coming up.
The Seahakws lost to the New York Giants on what was a rather disappointing game for them, especially because the Giants were also without rookie sensation Malik Nabers. Worth noting also that Seattle had a 1st and 10 on the Giants’ 34-yard line, but threw the ball twice on 2nd and 3rd down, and then Myers’ 47-yard would be game-winning field goal got blocked and returned for a touchdown, a terrible turn of events.
I expect this one to be a close one, and probably go down to the last possession. The Niners have won the past 5 matchups, but plenty has changed since then, and I don’t think that San Francisco has looked weaker over that time span than it does right now.
