With the Lions on the road this week, now feels like a good time to discuss our favorite away game meals or routines.
Don’t get me wrong. I love Detroit Lions home games at Ford Field just as much as the next person. There are few things in life that can beat the feeling of waking up on a gameday where you know you are going to be with 65,000 of your closest friends cheering on your team in a matter of hours. With all of that said, sometimes away games are somewhat of a relief.
Like many of you, my away game routines are nearly as sacred as the ones designated for home games. Maybe you aren’t headed to downtown Detroit for the morning and the greater part of the afternoon, but still—I’m betting a lot of the day is fairly similar.
That brings us to today’s Question of the Day:
What is your go-to away game meal or routine?
My Answer: Because I can never sleep past 6:30 or 7 a.m. ET, away games start the same time as they do for home games. I get up, make sure the animals are taken care of, clean the house up, and try to tie up any loose ends for the day prior to the 1 PM slate beginning.
This week, in honor of the Lions heading to Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys, we are attempting to smoke a brisket to eat prior to the game beginning. Ideally, the meat will be cooked by the early-afternoon games, but with brisket being brisket—we will see how those plans turn out.
How about you? What are your away game rituals, meals or routines? Let us know in the comments below.
