Your Thursday Night open thread
The Seattle Seahawks will take on the San Francisco 49ers to kick off Week 6 on Thursday Night Football.
The 49ers are a surprising 2-3 on the season as they’ve struggled to overcome the loss of star RB Christian McCaffrey. The Seahawks, meanwhile, have dropped the last two games and are in the middle of a brutal stretch that sees them play three games in less than two weeks.
Seattle is trying to avoid a three-game skid, while the 49ers are looking to climb back to .500 on the season and avoid being 0-3 in the division to start the season.
The 49ers enter the game as 3.5 point favorites on the road.
Chris’ pick: This game is why I thought last week’s tilt against the Giants could be a trap game for the Seahawks.
The schedule makers did Seattle no favors with Weeks 4, 5, and 6, scheduling them three games in 11 days. It doesn’t help that Seattle has had multiple defenders get injured and have an extensive injury report. The 49ers are without Christian McCaffery as well as kicker Jake Moody as well, so neither of these teams are at full strength.
That said, I’m going to go with the 49ers here. They’re missing fewer important players than the Seahawks and San Francisco is probably the better (and deeper) team anyway.
I expect this to be a close and competitive game, but the absense of Riq Woolen, Uchenna Nwosu, and potentially Derick Hall and Boye Mafe are a lot for a team to overcome.
