Reverse Q and A: Are you dreaming of a top-3 pick yet?

Reverse Q and A: Are you dreaming of a top-3 pick yet?

Is it okay for draft fans to start thinking about the possibilities in the draft?

The history of L.A. Rams first overall picks is a bumpy road. The Rams best first overall pick in history, if not their best period, was Orlando Pace in 1997. Pace is the only Hall of Famer that the Rams drafted first overall, while the other six have combined for nine Pro Bowl appearances dating back to 1938.

Can you name those six?

At 1-4, the Rams are in an early poll position for a top-3 pick if things don’t improve. They are tied for the worst record in the NFL with the Patriots, who just switched to Drake Maye, the Bengals, Browns, Jaguars, and Panthers, while the Titans are 1-3.

It’s safe to say that even if the Rams pull themselves out of this nosedive, the first pick in the 2025 NFL Draft could be with one of those seven teams.

And the Rams are one of those seven teams.

So my main question for Rams fans in this week’s Reverse Q and A, especially since it is a bye week and the Rams do not play anyone on Sunday, is…Are you dreaming of the draft yet?

Personally, I do not think there’s anything wrong with thinking about the draft. The NFL Draft is actually my favorite football-related event on the calendar and the premise of the L.A. Rams having a top-3 pick is one that I find highly intriguing for Turf Show Times. It does necessitate having a bad season, but at least this time the Rams would have a draft pick to show for it, unlike in 2022 when the Rams would have had the sixth overall pick if it didn’t belong to the Lions.

(They traded down and picked Jahmyr Gibbs. Would the Rams have picked Jalen Carter?)

I will post six questions in the comments below. Share your answers and reactions in the comments and if I have any advice…allow yourself to dream a little without fear of persecution for it.

The NFL Draft is specifically designed to be the silver lining to a bad season.
