Giants have yet to score a touchdown in two home games this season
The New York Giants are 0-2 at home this season, and have yet to score a touchdown at MetLife Stadium. Quarterback Daniel Jones knows that needs to change Sunday night against the Cincinnati Bengals.
“I think being efficient in the red zone and taking advantage of our opportunities is crucial,” he said on Wednesday. “We’re always trying to score touchdowns, regardless of who we’re playing.”
As Big Blue View’s Tony DelGenio wrote earlier this week, Jones has historically played better on the road than at home. He downplayed that when asked about it.
“I think the football field is the same and it’s about going out and playing well, regardless of where you are,” he said. “I’m excited to get out there. I think we all are. It should be an awesome atmosphere for football.”
The Giants are just 2-17 in prime time games during Jones career.
“I think we got to win more games. You look at the past, over the years, we haven’t won enough, period,” Jones said. “So, to say prime time or not, I think we got to win. We know we got to win and play well. I’m confident. I’m excited for the opportunity. I think we all are.
“We want to win every game and play well every game. It doesn’t change when it is or where it is.”
On the success last week without wide receiver Malik Nabers …
“We’ve said all along we’re confident in our whole group and all the guys we got. We got a deep, deep room in all the skill positions. We have a lot of guys who can make plays, and you saw that on Sunday, guys stepping up and doing that. So, when we say we have confidence in them, it’s not just lip service, we really do. There’s a lot of guys who can make plays for us.”
On being involved as a runner …
“I enjoy running the ball. It can help me get into a game when those opportunities present themselves. But I think there’s a lot of ways to get into a rhythm and get into a flow. Whether that’s running the ball or throwing the ball, I feel like I can do that either way.”
