The Bengals had a couple of starters sit out the first practice of the week.
The first injury report is out for Week 6, as the Cincinnati Bengals slowly try to get healthier as the season progresses. Returns of players can’t come too soon, with the team trying to climb out of a 1-4 hole as they prepare to face the New York Giants.
Appearing on the injury report for the Bengals this week was running back Zack Moss and tight end Mike Gesicki, as both missed Wednesday’s session. Moss was listed as having a foot issue that he suffered late in the game last week, while Gesicki was bitten by the hamstring bug that has made its way through the team thus far this year.
Sheldon Rankins was a limited participant on Wednesday, pointing to his potential return Sunday night. Mike Hilton, who missed last week’s game with a knee issue, was a full participant Wednesday.
The Giants’ defense has been hit pretty hard. Outside linebackers Brian Burns (groin) was limited, while Kayvon Thibodeaux is dealing with a wrist injury. Head coach Brian Daboll noted that Thibodeaux actually had surgery this week for a broken bone and is week-to-week. That means Thibodeaux is almost certainly out this week.
On offense, star rookie wideout Malik Nabers is in concussion protocol and didn’t participate Wednesday. Offensive lineman Jon Runyan (groin) and Greg Van Roten (rest) were also sitting out Wednesday.
