The Giants, for once, are the team that makes the game-changing play
The New York Giants earned a much-needed victory on Sunday, going on the road to defeat the Seattle Seahawks, xx-xx.
The Giants are 2-3, while the Seahawks fell to 3-2.
Isaiah Simmons blocked a 47-yard game-tying field-goal attempt by Seattle’s Jason Myers. Bryce Ford-Wheaton scooped and scored to make it 29-20 with :55 to play.
The Giants led, 23-13, after a 24-yard Greg Joseph field goal with 11:57 to play. They survived a furious Seattle rally in the final moments to earn the upset victory.
A 5-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith to Jaxon Smith-Njigba made the score 23-20 with 2:09 to play. That capped a 14-play, 95-yard drive that took 3:44.
After a Giants punt, Seattle got into position for the Myers’ field goal, only to be turned back by the Simmons play.
Without star wide receiver Malik Nabers (concussion) and starting running back Devin Singletary, the Giants still put together their best offensive performance of the season.
The 29 points were the most the Giants have scored this season, granted six were via special teams. The Giants compiled a season-high 421 total yards of offense, possessing the ball for 37:13.
Daniel Jones went 23 of 34 for 257 yards and two touchdowns.
Rookie running back Tyrone Tracy, subbing for the injured Devin Singletary, had 129 yards rushing on 18 carries, averaging 7.2 yards per carry. That’s Tracy’s first 100-yard game as an NFL player.
Darius Slayton had eight receptions for 122 yards. Wan’Dale Robinson had six catches for 36 yards, and tight end Theo Johnson had five catches for 48 yards.
Defensively, the Giants sacked Seattle quarterback Geno Smith seven times. Dexter Lawrence had three sacks, D.J. Davidson had two. Brian Burns had a critical fourth-and-1 sack in the fourth quarter, along with two passes defensed.
Deonte Banks, called out during the week by defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson, had three passes defensed and a forced fumble.
First half
The Giants dominated the first half statistically, but went to the locker room in a 10-10 tie. A 102-yard touchdown return by Seattle’s Rayshawn Jenkins on a fourth-and-goal Eric Gray fumble dampened what might have been a great first half for New York.
The Giants had 225 total yards and 21:55 time of possession in the first half to 90 yards and 8:05 possession time for the Seahawks.

Motion confirms man coverage…Jones slight roll to his right influences MOFC safety away from deep horizontal cross. Slayton won inside, Jones put it on him.

This is a lowlight, but I have to put it here. It’s just unbelievable.
The Giants were half a yard from the end zone, but the @Seahawks scored on this play.
