The league fined Woods but the flag was picked up…
The Cincinnati Bengals are set for the most important game of the season thus far as they host the Baltimore Ravens.
Although the Bengals picked up a crucial win over the Carolina Panthers this past weekend, we are still unpacking some of what happened on the football field.
There was a specific play in the game after Mike Gesicki caught a pass, went out of bounds, and was hit late by Panthers safety Xavier Woods.
Initially, the officiating crew threw the flag, but after a conversation, the flag was picked up and was not ruled unnecessary roughness.
Later in the week, after the Bengals win, Woods was reportedly fined $11,255 for the hit on Gesicki, yet the flag was picked up…
Frustrating scenarios like these make it hard not to pick on NFL officiating and complain about crews’ lackluster performances at officiating games.
Although the Bengals pulled out the win, this play could have a big impact on the game’s outcome.
Nonetheless, it’s in the past, and Cincinnati is focused on Baltimore.
