Testing the Stampede Blue’s staff, and readers, knowledge and faith in the Colts
In Week 5, the 2-2 Indianapolis Colts (+ 122) make the trip south to face off againts the Jaguars (- 144) in Duval. The team opens up as 2.5-point underdogs, which seems a bit generous to me considering the recent history the Colts have playing the Jaguars away from LOS.

I am not expecting absolutely anything good to come out from this game, recent history suggest that only bad things can come from the Colts making the trip to Jacksonville, and I would not be opposed to just forfeiting the game and taking this as a bye week to get players healthy. Jokes aside, I still think the team loses this one, even though the Jags have been terrible this year, there have been too many injuries and playing there is always impossible for us.

With potentially no Jonathan Taylor and/or Anthony Richardson, the Colts could be heading to Jacksonville shorthanded. If that’s the case, then they will have to rely on Joe Flacco and Trey Sermon to pick up the load. What doesn’t help is the Colts are cursed when going to Jacksonville and haven’t won in Jacksonville in over 10 years. The Jaguars are winless and had their best performance of the season last week against Houston, so they won’t roll over and play poorly. I didn’t like the way the Colts finished the game against the Steelers, so I don’t see this road game going their way this week.

Welcome to Hell-Week, Colts fans. The week the Colts travel to Jacksonville has been disastrous for the last 9 years straight. The last time the Colts won in Jacksonville, Andrew Luck threw 4 Passing TDs, Trent Richardson got a rare game with over 4 yards a carry, and Greg Toler and the late Vontae Davis got a pair of Interceptions in a 44-17 rout. Time has flown since 2014.
So what if the Jaguars have no wins on the season so far.
So what if the Jaguars are likely in the midst of a terrible season where they will pick high in the ensuing draft.
But that hasn’t stopped them from working their dark Duval magic on the Colts in years past.
It defies QB & Coach era.
It has happened when Jaguars didn’t have a Win yet:
in 2016 Week 4
In 2020 Week 1
In 2022 Week 2It has happened in years that the Jaguars are terrible:
– 2015: 5-11
– 2016: 3-13
– 2018: 5-11
– 2019: 6-10
– 2020: 1-15 (their only win)
– 2021: 3-14 https://t.co/da7dz2YHlg pic.twitter.com/XcOmFjQtqZ— Jay Robins mark (@RobinsLucas) October 1, 2024
The Colts entering the game with injuries to a significant amount of their starting lineup, including many of their best players certainly doesn’t help matters either.
Until the Colts finally end this streak of cursed games at Jacksonville, I can’t in good faith predict this game as a win, irregardless of who is on the field for either team.
