The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons will kick off Week 5 on “Thursday Night Football” in a battle between NFC South rivals. These team’s battles have been fairly even over their 61-game histories, with the Buccaneers holding a 31-30 edge, while the Falcons have won two of the last three.
The Buccaneers are 3-1 on the season, with their only loss (to the Broncos) following their win over the Detroit Lions—a common theme with Lions opponents this season—and they are coming off a convincing 33-16 win over the Eagles. Meanwhile, the Falcons are 2-2 on the season, falling to the Steelers and Chiefs, while also beating the Eagles, and most recently beating the Saints.
Betting line and pick for the game
Atlants is a slight favorite in this game and the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook have set the betting line at Falcons -1.5 points.
This is a pivotal game for both teams as the winner will take a seat at the top of the division and will potentially hold an important tie-breaker. Divisional battles can be tricky, and this game will likely come down to quarterback play. Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins has flashed at times this season but Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield has been stellar each week, which is why I’m siding with Tampa Bay.
Prediction: Buccaneers 24-21
