Free agent Tre’Davious White isn’t the All-Pro cornerback that he used to be
Is Tre’Davious White, once an All-Pro and a Defensive Player of the Year candidate, now the worst starting cornerback in the NFL? According to DVOA, he might be.
Aaron Schatz tweeted out some cornerback coverage stats on Wednesday and unfortunately White’s name was mentioned where you didn’t want to see it: At the very, very bottom. “Worst coverage DVOA: Tre’Davious White”.
Do the Rams need to bench Tre’Davious White, their other big name free agent cornerback signing besides Darious Williams, who has missed the entire season so far?
Also coming out strong: Devon Witherspoon, D.J. Reed, Marshon Lattimore, Rasul Douglas, Jaylon Johnson.
Surprisingly not coming out strong so far: Sauce Gardner, Jaycee Horn, Carlton Davis
Worst coverage DVOA: Tre’Davious White

The Rams signed White because of his past reputation, not because he was good in 2023 or even 2022, so this was always a signing of faith. L.A. had little way of knowing if White could still perform up to task after multiple serious injuries and through four games it really seems like he can’t.
White has allowed an NFL-worst 4 touchdowns and that has only come on 18 targets. He has also missed four tackles, making his 25% missed tackle rate one of the worst in the NFL through four weeks.
Unfortunately, the Rams don’t have many other options until Darious Williams returns from IR. Still, even if the players on the bench are unproven, at some point the coaches will have to ask if White has proven that he doesn’t have anything left in the tank.
