The Minnesota Vikings travel to London on Thursday for a Sunday morning (Minneapolis time) showdown with the New York Jets. But ahead of that matchup comes the first injury report for both teams. Here it is:
Minnesota Vikings
- CB Akayleb Evans, illness, did not practice (DNP)
- TE Josh Oliver, wrist, limited
- LB Ivan Pace Jr., ankle, limited
- WR/PR Brandon Powell, chest, limited
- QB Sam Darnold, knee, full practice
New York Jets
- OT Morgan Moses, knee, DNP
- OT Tyron Smith, vet rest, DNP
- LB CJ Mosley, toe, limited
- QB Aaron Rodgers, knee, limited
- Leki Fotu, DT, hamstring, full
On the Vikings’ side, I haven’t heard much about the extent of either Josh Oliver’s wrist injury or Brandon Powell’s chest injury, but at this point I suspect they’re minor and unlikely to keep them out of Sunday’s game. Ivan Pace Jr. is on schedule to play on Sunday as well, despite being limited at today’s practice. The fact that Darnold is on the list with a knee despite a full practice means he got some treatment for it although it’s unlikely to keep him from playing Sunday either.
For the Jets, Morgan Moses is their starting right tackle who missed last weekend’s game against the Broncos after suffering an MCL sprain and bone bruise the previous game. He is unlikely to play on Sunday in London at this point, with an initial 2-4 week estimated rehab time.
C.J. Mosley suffered a toe injury in week two and missed the last two games as a result, but today is his first practice since the injury, so it looks like he may be on track to play on Sunday.
Aaron Rodgers had some swelling in his knee after being hit and sacked several times against the Broncos, but is likely to play on Sunday at this point.
Lastly, Leki Fotu had been on IR for the first four games with a hamstring injury, but his coming off IR and being a full participant in Wednesday’s practice means he’ll likely play on Sunday.
The Jets getting back C.J. Mosley and Leki Fotu is doubtless good news for them, as is the return of Ivan Pace Jr. for the Vikings- although Kamu Grugier-Hill did well with two picks in his absence.
The Vikings also are activating T.J. Hockenson off the PUP list this week, opening up a three week window for his return. Most likely that will be after the bye-week following the Jets game.
But overall, no huge injury concerns for the Vikings at this point in the week.
Stay tuned.
