Former Pro Bowl wide receiver has disappeared from NFL landscape
Hunter Renfrow, you remember him, don’t you?
The Las Vegas Raiders’ former Pro Bowl wide receiver has fallen off the face of the NFL earth.
We’re basically a quarter into the 2024 NFL regular season and Renfrow remains a free agent. It’s not just that Renfrow remains on the open market this deep into the season, his name is never even mentioned in reports about potentially joining a team.
Sure, there’s been rumors about Renfrow landing with teams such as the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers over the past six months, but there hasn’t been any substantial news about Renfrow, who turns 29 in December, and any team since the Raiders released him in March.
Yes, Renfrow’s production tailed off the past couple of years and he dealt with some injuries, but it’s wild to think his days as an NFL player could be over.
The 2019 fifth-round pick from Clemson was a Pro Bowl player in 2021 and he earned a big contract extension.
Then, Renfrow’s production suddenly and dramatically dropped. He went from catching 103 passes in 2021 and being a third-down sure thing to catching 36 passes in 2022 and just 25 in 2023.
Now, he sits at home at a time when he is supposed to be in the prime of his career.
