NBC wanted Ravens – Commanders, but CBS said no.
Despite reports that NBC was hoping to flex the Bengals’ Week 6 trip to the Meadowlands to take on the Giants in favor of a matchup between the Ravens and Commanders, Cincinnati’s Week 6 tilt will remain on Sunday Night Football.
The deadline to flex any game is 12 days before kickoff at 4:00 PM ET.
Both the Bengals and Giants are 1-3 so far this season, with losses to the Commanders on their resumes.
New York visits 3-1 Seattle in Week 5, while the Bengals will host the 2-2 Baltimore Ravens in a critical AFC North showdown.
Joe Burrow has yet to make a start against the Giants in his career. He was out injured for the team’s last regular-season matchup in 2020, which saw Brandon Allen draw the start for the Bengals and Colt McCoy play most of the game under center for the Giants after Daniel Jones left early with an injury. New York won the game 19-17 in Cincy.
Baltimore Sun reporter Brian Wacker says the Commanders – Ravens game was protected by CBS, which is why the Bengals – Giants game stays in primetime.
Commanders at Ravens in 2 weeks, Lamar vs. Jayden Daniels: NBC was interested in flexing it to Sunday night, but CBS has apparently protected the game. Bengals-Giants is the current Week 6 SNF game #RavensFlock
