Hendrickson left the Bengals win over the Panthers with an injury midway through the fourth quarter.
Trey Hendrickson is the Cincinnati Bengals’ most valuable player after Joe Burrow. If it wasn’t for him, it’s fair and scary to wonder where the defense would be through four weeks.
That said, Hendrickson left the Bengals’ 34-24 win Sunday with an injury midway through the fourth quarter. On the FOX broadcast, a graphic said Hendrickson was ruled out with a neck injury. That was after Hendrickson was down on the field for several minutes with Bengals defensive teammates surrounding him in support.
After the game, head coach Zac Taylor announced that Hendrickson had a neck stinger. Taylor added the team would know more on Monday following testing.
Veteran defensive end Sam Hubbard weighed in.
“We’re all thinking about him. We’re with him,” Hubbard said after the win. “He’s such an important part of our team and plays so hard. We’re just hoping for the best for him. He’s an integral part of this team, to say the least.”
It was Hendrickson who got a hold of Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton’s arm, causing a wobbly pass to turn into an interception by Bengals safety Vonn Bell. The turnover led to the first touchdown of the game, giving the Bengals a 7-0 lead.
Hendrickson’s presence is, no doubt, game-changing for the Bengals. If he has to miss time, that’s not good for a Bengals defense that allowed 375 yards and 24 points to the Panthers on Sunday.
The Bengals face the Baltimore Ravens next Sunday.

Depending on how long Hendrickson is out, this would be a major loss for the Bengals as they prepare to host Baltimore next Sunday in a crucial AFC North matchup at Paycor Stadium.
