Miami Dolphins vs. Tennessee Titans Week 4 Media Predictions

NFL media makes their picks, and final score predictions on the Dolphins vs. Titans.

The Miami Dolphins have a new hope at the backup quarterback position, and his name is Tyler “Snoop” Huntley. The Miami native has served the last four years as backup to Lamar Jackson for the Baltimore Ravens and earned a Pro Bowl nod in 2022 for the five-game stretch he played while Jackson was out.

He may have been selected for the Pro Bowl due to injuries to other quarterbacks, but let’s not talk about that. He played well over that stretch, and we’ll keep it at that.

While the starter, Tua Tagvailoa, is making his way back through concussion protocol, and Skylar Thompson is getting over a rib/chest injury, the newly signed Huntley has a golden opportunity to find a new home for the foreseeable future with this one to three-game audition.

The Dolphins have been searching for answers at the backup position since Tagovailoa’s first concussion in 2022 and haven’t seemed to get any traction from that day to now. The backup spectrum has only ranged from bad to disaster so far, but Huntley is the best playmaker with his legs out of the bunch, so he may be able to bring a new dynamic to the offense that even Tagovailoa couldn’t.

The Tennessee Titans are one of three teams still searching for their first win in 2024, so they see this game as their best chance to get on the board for the first time this season. The Titans have been plagued by turnovers from quarterback Will Levis, and that’ll be the key to the Dolphins controlling and winning this game.

Win the turnover battle, and hopefully cash one of them in for a touchdown.

It’ll be hard to predict this game with the first start of Huntley’s Dolphins tenure, but it feels like a low-scoring game with both teams having good defenses and low-scoring offenses. The one fact that favors Miami is that the Titans lost a backup quarterback last week in Malik Willis, who gashed the Titans with his legs just as much as his arm, Favoring Huntley’s strengths.

With that, let’s see the national media predictions on this Monday night action:

ESPN:

  • Kalyn Kahler – Titans 20, Dolphins 13
  • Eric Moody – Dolphins 21, Titans 13
  • Seth Walder – Titans 19, Dolphins 16

NFL.com:

  • Ali Bhanpuri – Titans 22, Dolphins 18
  • Brooke Cerosimo – Titans 20, Dolphins 16
  • Dan Parr – Titans 20, Dolphins 13
  • Gennaro Filice – Titans 20, Dolphins 17
  • Tom Blair – Titans 21, Dolphins 14

ProFootballTalk:

  • Mike Florio – Dolphins 26, Titans 17
  • Chris Simms – Dolphins 20, Titans 17

Bleacher Report:

  • Brad Gagnon – Titans
  • Kris Knox – Titans
  • Gary Davenport – Dolphins
  • Brent Sobleski – Titans
  • Maurice Moton – Dolphins
  • Wes O’Donnell – Dolphins
  • Ian Hanford – Dolphins
  • Consensus prediction – Dolphins 20, Titans 17

CBS:

  • Pete Prisco – Titans
  • Will Brinson – Titans
  • Jared Dubin – Dolphins
  • Ryan Wilson – Titans
  • John Breech – Titans
  • Tyler Sullivan – Dolphins
  • Dave Richard – Titans
  • Jamey Eisenberg – Dolphins

USA Today:

  • Tyler Dragon – Titans 24, Dolphins 16
  • Lorenzo Reyes – Dolphins 20, Titans 17
  • Richard Morin – Titans 25, Dolphins 21
  • Jordan Mendoza – Dolphins 16, Titans 13

Fox Sports:

  • Data Skrive – Dolphins 22, Titans 17

The consensus for this matchup seems to be it’s anyone’s game. It’s split down the middle and looks to come down to the wire. The Dolphins are looking for their first win without Tagovailoa, and the Titans are looking for their first win in general. A pair of bottom ten teams trying to get out of the basement.

Both teams will likely lean on their defense to win the field position and turnover battle to give their offenses easier chances to score. The Dolphins offense may rely on Huntley’s ability to use his legs to extend plays and gain yards due to his strengths and the Titans inability to stop quarterback runs this year.

I predict this game to be a low-scoring but close win for the Dolphins, with a final score of 17-13. The Dolphins defense will show up big in the second half, closing the door on the Titans.

If the Dolphins lose this game, the season may be on the doorstep of being a tank season.

Get it done!
