How are we feeling, Colts fans, closing in on Week 4’s matchup against the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers?
The Indianapolis Colts (1-2) host the undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers (3-0) (-2.5) following the Horseshoe’s first win of the 2024 regular season last weekend.
While expectations have been tempered a bit following Indy’s initial slow start, the recent victory has revived nearly 50% of the the Horseshoe faithful’s confidence—as 48% of Colts fans surveyed are confident that the franchise is headed in the right direction, which was previously a dismal 19% last week:
That being said, only 38% of Colts fans believe that the team will actually win at home against the Steelers this weekend, meaning they’re not optimistic about starting the first win streak of the 2024 campaign:
The growing pains of returning 2nd-year starter Anthony Richardson could be a reason why.
Perhaps because of the long layoff, still adjusting to his surgically repaired right throwing shoulder, or really just needing the additional reps for muscle memory, but Richardson really struggled with his accuracy and turnovers during last week’s win against the Chicago Bears. It appears as though he’s taken a step back from where he was as a rookie to prematurely end his 2023 season.
Specifically, only 46% of Colts fans believe that Richardson will get back on track against the Steelers this weekend—and perhaps that’s because they’re the #1 ranked team defense. However, hey, it’s at least close to a coin flip for a potential confidence boost!
