The two rookies made a splash in their first NFL action.
While the defense is struggling, the Cincinnati Bengals are finally coming together on the offensive line.
Rookie Amarius Mims made his season debut on Monday, and he clearly impressed his coach, Zac Taylor, who said he was “really proud” of how he started and called the big right tackle “poised” and “impressive.”
Zac Taylor on Amarius Mims: “Really proud of the way he came in. He was poised…we have high expectations for him. Picked up where he left off from training camp. Impressive for a rookie.”

And Sports Illustrated’s Mike Santagata confirmed that Mims looked mature beyond his years in a primetime game.
Amarius Mims has the patience of a 10 year vet in pass protection. He gets to his spot and doesn’t get antsy. Just calmly waits for the pass rusher to throw out a move and then clamps down. pic.twitter.com/qvyOhEr6bj

In other good news, rookie defensive tackle Kris Jenkins also lived up to his coach’s expectations and showed “really positive things.”

The big man from Michigan only had one tackle, but it was a big one.
