Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles links …
Hot start has Eagles legend Brandon Graham re-thinking retirement – NBCSP
Graham said all summer this would be his final season, but he said Wednesday at his locker that he could envision a scenario where he puts off his planned retirement and plays a 16th season for the Eagles. “Honestly, I’m going to stay ready just for one more year,” he said. “Just in case if a situation popped up where it’s like, ‘OK, they need me.’ But right now I’m just trying to get through this year and enjoy it as much as I can. And hopefully make a bunch of plays to help the team and help (my teammates) get to their next level. “Either way, I’m going to be a part of whatever they’re doing next year. As a player, who knows? But I might stay ready another year depending on how everything goes this year. “I just want to be able to help in whatever role because I know where they’re going right now and I want to be a part of that.”
Eagles issue estimated injury report ahead of Buccaneers game – BGN
The Eagles listed three players under DID NOT PARTICIPATE: A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Lane Johnson. Brown missed the Eagles’ last two matchups due to a hamstring injury. It looks like he could be in jeopardy of missing a third straight game. The Eagles are seemingly hoping to get Brown back after the Week 5 bye. Smith is in the concussion protocol and thus must be cleared to return by an independent doctor (as opposed to team doctor) before he can play. Smith was not seen during the media-attended portion of Wednesday’s practice. By contrast, Johnson was seen attending the Eagles’ walkthrough. That much could indicate Johnson is closer to returning to action than Smith is.
Eagles film review: There’s hope for Tyler Steen yet – PhillyVoice
The Eagles are already paying a lot of money to LT Jordan Mailata, LG Landon Dickerson, and RT Lane Johnson. They’re likely to pay C Cam Jurgens when he is eligible for a contract extension during the 2025 offseason. At RG, Becton has played very well in his own right, as he had a very encouraging Eagles debut Week 1 against the Packers. He is scheduled to be a free agent next offseason, and it is going to be hard for the Eagles to play big money to five offensive linemen. If Becton continues to play well at RG, the Eagles may not be able to afford him. Steen is only in the second year of a cheap rookie contract, and his performance against the Saints should give the team a sense of relief that he can step in and be a full-time starter at RG in 2025 and beyond, or earlier if needed.
From the farm to the field: Reed Blankenship’s journey to starting in the NFL – PE.com
Eagles safety Reed Blankenship grew up going to school in Lester, Alabama – a town whose population is roughly 130 people. This past Sunday, he made the game-sealing interception in front of more than 70,000 fans in New Orleans to help the Eagles take down the Saints 15-12. His teammates have now referred to him as “the closer” as Dallas Goedert said postgame. “I don’t know, whatever you want to call me, I’m just out there to play football,” Blankenship said following the game. It was the second interception of the young season for the safety, who came up with a huge one in the third quarter against the Packers in Week 1. Blankenship’s journey in the NFL began after he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Eagles in 2022. The former Middle Tennessee State captain was one of just three UDFAs to make the roster out of Training Camp.
Bucs alter practice schedule ahead of Hurricane Helene – PFT
The Bucs have moved up their Thursday practice to 10:05 a.m. ET, so players are less impacted by severe weather. “It definitely puts us inside,” head coach Todd Bowles said, via Kyle Burger of WFTS. Staffers have removed goal posts from the outdoor practice fields and secured signage along the fence. Kickoff of the game between the Bucs and Eagles, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, is not expected to be affected.

Washington Commanders vs Arizona Cardinals Wednesday Injury Report – Hogs Haven
Dan Quinn ruled out RB Austin Ekeler(concussion) and DE Clelin Ferrell before today’s practice started. The team traveled to Arizona after the Bengals game, and neither player made the trip. Ferrell didn’t travel to Cincinnati, and Ekeler suffered a concussion in the third quarter of the Bengals game, and went back to Virginia after being evaluated.
NFL Week 3 Under Review: Jayden Daniels Makes a Major Statement – The Ringer
That was an “I’m here!” game from Jayden Daniels. And that was an “I’m here!” moment in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game against Cincinnati. Facing a key third-and-7 with just over two minutes left, Daniels, the no. 2 pick in April’s draft, beat the blitz and dropped a beautiful pass right in the bucket for a 27-yard touchdown to Terry McLaurin. It capped off a near-perfect night for Daniels and the Commanders offense. Washington got the ball six times (not counting a couple of kneel downs) and scored five touchdowns and a field goal. Daniels went 21-for-23 for 254 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran 12 times for 39 yards and a touchdown. How about this for an early-season surprise: The Commanders have the most efficient offense in the NFL in terms of expected points added per drive. Their last 13 possessions: five touchdowns, eight field goals, no punts, no turnovers. They have not punted since Week 1!
5 things to watch when the Cowboys play the Giants on Thursday night – Blogging The Boys
4. Steele melts when it Burns. The Giants have a pretty good defensive line. Some names you know like veteran All-Pro DT Dexter Lawrence and 2022 fifth-overall pick Kayvon Thibodeaux. They also acquired veteran edge rusher Brian Burns from the Carolina Panthers in a trade back in March and signed him to a five-year, $141 million extension. But the Giants’ defense goes even deeper with several guys contributing, including rookie undrafted free agent Elijah Chatman. Watching him play, you can see why they were so eager to trade Justin Phillips (among other reasons). The Giants run a lot of pass-rushing stunts and it will challenge the Cowboys’ offensive line to see what’s going on and react quickly. New York is second in the league in sacks thanks to 13 sacks over their last two games. One matchup to pay particular attention to is Burns vs. Cowboys’ right tackle Terence Steele. Burns has 15 pressures on 84 pass rushes (17.9%), the highest pressure rate of his career. Overall, the Cowboys’ offensive line has held up okay in pass protection, but Steele has had his share of losing reps. If he can’t keep Burns in check, it could be a rough day for the Cowboys offense.
Giants-Cowboys injury report: CBs Dru Phillips, Adoree’ Jackson out vs. Cowboys – Big Blue View
The New York Giants’ cornerback woes will be exacerbated by injuries on Thursday night against the Dallas Cowboys as slot cornerback Dru Phillips and veteran outside cornerback Adoree’ Jackson will both miss the game with calf injuries. Both players were hurt on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Wide receiver Darius Slayton (thumb) is listed as questionable. If Slayton is limited or can’t play, that would provide an opportunity for Jalin Hyatt. The good news for the Giants is that cornerback Nick McCloud, who missed the last two games with a knee injury, is not on the injury list. That means he will play. The Giants’ top three cornerbacks on Thursday will be Tae Banks, Cor’Dale Flott, and McCloud. Who aligns in the slot with CeeDee Lamb, the Cowboys’ No. 1 receiver, will be a matchup to watch.
2024 NFL Season, Week 4: Four things to watch for in Cowboys-Giants on Prime Video, NFL+ – NFL.com
2) Malik Nabers, Daniel Jones starting to heat up. Giants fans have gotten a taste the past two games of what their first-round wide receiver is capable of. He helped dig the Giants out of a quick 7-0 deficit last week, catching two first-half TD passes against the Browns — both spectacular — and also made another great reception to save Jones from an INT. After a bad Week 1, Jones has rallied alongside his rookie stud. Over the past two games, he’s thrown for four TDs and zero picks, taken only three sacks and scrambled effectively. Nabers has energized Jones, and Wan’Dale Robinson gives him a nice safety blanket and YAC threat. But running back Devin Singletary is the only other Giants skill player who has touched the ball more than 11 times, so their options are limited. Can the Cowboys hem in Nabers? The defense has sprung a few leaks the past two weeks, allowing pass plays of 70, 57 and 39 yards against the Saints and 56, 30 and 23 to the Ravens. Cornerback Trevon Diggs hasn’t been beaten deep much, but rookie CB Caelen Carson has been picked on and safety Donovan Wilson has been out of position on some long plays allowed. Nabers should be Dallas’ prime focus, but he’s been special so far.
Seahawks re-sign 2023 preseason standout to practice squad, place George Holani on IR – Field Gulls
The Seattle Seahawks have once again made changes to the practice squad on Tuesday. It’s two more players in, two players out ahead of Week 4 against the Detroit Lions. Seattle has signed [former Eagles] cornerback Tyler Hall and 2023 Seahawks preseason standout Matt Gotel, while placing running back George Holani on practice squad IR due to his ankle injury, and releasing Marquise Blair for the second time in a matter of days.
Raiders sign rookie tackle who Dane Brugler deemed mid-round draft worthy – RaidersWire
This week the Raiders opened up a spot on the practice squad with the signing of CB Sam Webb. They have filled that spot with the addition of tackle Gottlieb Ayedze. Ayedze was originally signed this offseason by the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Maryland. He landed on the Non-Football Injury (NFI) List heading into camp and never got a foothold before being waived at the final roster cutdown.
Bill Belichick to Jaguars is NFL’s hottest coaching rumor. Does it make sense? – SB Nation
The Jacksonville Jaguars are in dire straits. An 0-3 start to a season which once held so much promise has now given ways to rumors of wholesale changes inside the organization — including firing head coach Doug Pederson. Rumors are now positioning Bill Belichick as a possible answer to the Jags’ coaching woes, so today Football Court meets to argue whether this is a good idea or not. This is our debate series that attempts to answer some of football’s biggest questions, whether we personally agree with them or not.
