Fans seem hopeful for, but not confident in, a Giants win
The New York Giants will hope to establish a winning streak this week on Thursday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys.
Both teams are, as you may have heard, 1-2 on the season and facing a tough stretch of games following their early season “mini-bye” and this may well be a “must win” game for both teams.
The Big Blue View staff was split 2-4 in favor of the Cowboys in this week’s staff picks. We decided to put that question to you, the Big Blue View community. Earlier this week we asked a simple question: Would the Giants would beat the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football?
It’s safe to say that the Giants fanbase feels about the same way about tonight’s game as the BBV staff is, with fans split 56-44 in favor of the Cowboys.
It isn’t a particularly surprising result, considering the history behind this matchup. I don’t need to go over the numbers again, nor the results from last year. Suffice to say, the Giants could have their work cut out for them, particularly if Dallas is able to find their footing on offense.
The Giants come into the game as 5.5-point underdogs at home according to the Las Vegas sportsbooks, while ProFootballFocus has the Giants as 6.1-point underdogs.
Peeking over at the Cowboys side of things, they aren’t really any more confident in their team than Giants fans are. They posed the same poll to their fans this week, and just 49 percent of Cowboys fans think their team will win.
All that said, Giants fans have renewed confidence in the direction of their team.
Fan confidence started out high this year before plummeting to just 22 percent heading into Week 2. It rebounded a bit following the Giants’ narrow loss to the Commanders to 29 percent. Now, following their win over the Browns, 61 percent of fans are confident in the direction of their team. That isn’t quite up to the 78 percent fans opened at this year, but the rebound from the doldrums following the loss to the Vikings is impressive.
