The Colts continue shuffling the backend of their practice squad. This time, reinforcing some depleted d-line depth.

The Indianapolis Colts announced a number of practice squad roster moves on Monday, as the team signed defensive tackle Josiah Bronson and defensive end Derek Rivers to their taxi-mean squad—while placing quarterback Jason Bean on the practice squad injured list.

Indianapolis also released veteran cornerback Kelvin Joseph from the practice squad in a corresponding roster move.

Regarding Bronson, the 6’3,” 295 pound defensive tackle was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints, but has also spent time with the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, and New England Patriots organizations. (He even had a brief stint with the UFL’s Memphis Showboats).

During his 3-year NFL career, Bronson has 12 tackles (8 solo) and a QB hit.

Meanwhile, Rivers spent time with the Colts on their practice squad last year and was later re-signed to the team in mid-August before being released as part of final 53-man roster cuts, before being re-signed to their taxi squad on Tuesday. The 2017 3rd round pick of the New England Patriots has also played with the Los Angeles Rams and Houston Texans.

The 6’5,” 250 pound edge has 16 tackles (11 solo), 5 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks during 24 career games (1 start).

Colts’ starting defensive end Kwity Paye suffered a quad injury during Sunday’s win, so Rivers addition could be extra insurance for depth, while in Bronson’s case, Indianapolis will still be without starting defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (ankle) at least 3 more games on injured reserve.

Per The Athletic’s James Boyd, Bean was recently seen wearing a boot on his left foot/ankle.
