A short week to turn things around.
The Cincinnati Bengals held a walkthrough Wednesday as they prepare for a short week of practice before heading to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Panthers.
While the team held a walkthrough Wednesday, the did release an estimated injury report, giving us what a player’s status would have been had it been a full practice.
As we know, offensive tackle Trent Brown (torn patellar tendon) will miss the rest of the season, but he shows up on the injury report for now, as he has not been added to the injured reserve list quite yet.
A concerning addition is star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase (shoulder). While Chase’s practice status is listed as limited, this will be something to watch as the week progresses. Having both Chase and Tee Higgins on the field helped wake up the Bengals offense in Week 3, so hopefully, they get back on the field together Sunday.
Joe Burrow (right wrist) was listed as a full participant, so things still seem to be going well with his surgically repaired throwing hand.
Several defensive linemen did not practice. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson (illness) was a non-participant. He was joined by defensive tackles BJ Hill and Sheldon Rankins, who are both dealing with their own hamstring issues. Hendrickson should be fine, but the interior of the defensive line could use Rankins and Hill back sooner rather than later.
Rookie defensive tackle Kris Jenkins (thumb) was listed as a full participant. Jenkins showed good signs in his debut last week, so hopefully, he can continue to build on that with his hand clubbed.
Linebacker Joe Bachie (wrist) showed up on the report, but was a full participant while tight end Tanner Hudson (knee) still has not practiced since Week 1.
For the Panthers, linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (rest), defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson (knee), cornerback Lonnie Johnson (hip), guard Damien Lewis (elbow), and defensive tackle Shy Tuttle (foot) all did not practice Wednesday. Lewis is already set to miss this week, so that’s one starting offensive lineman down.
Former Bengals Andy Dalton (ankle) and safety Nick Scott (quadriceps) were listed as limited.
