Brown’s 2024 season is done.
The Cincinnati Bengals have lost Trent Brown for the 2024 season.
Brown, who left Monday’s loss to the Washington Commanders with a knee injury, suffered a torn patellar tendon that will require season-ending surgery.
This, according to NFL Network reporter Ian Rapoport. Brown is expected to make a full recovery.
A 10-year NFL veteran, the 31-year-old Brown was signed to a one-year deal this offseason following a stint with the New England Patriots. When healthy, Brown has been a quality offensive tackle on both the left and right sides.
Unfortunately, Brown has had numerous injuries throughout his career, which is why the Bengals were able to sign him to a low-risk deal. According to Over The Cap, his deal was worth just $4.75 million, a bargain for a solid starting offensive tackle.
This means that first-round rookie Amarius Mims is now the Bengals’ starting right tackle for the foreseeable future. Mims was drafted this year in hopes of getting a developmental year and taking over at right tackle in 2025 when Brown likely leaves in free agency.
Look for the Bengals to add another tackle to the 53-man roster in the coming days/weeks.
Here’s to a speedy recovery for Brown.
