Can the Bills stay undefeated and will Bengals get first win on Monday Night Football doubleheader?
The NFL Week 3 slate will wrap up on Monday Night Football with the first of two doubleheaders this season. Starting things off will be the Buffalo Bills taking on the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Washington Commanders and Cincinnati Bengals will then kickoff game two.
The Jaguars will be looking to upset the Bills on the road to avoid an 0-3 start. Meanwhile, the Bills are 2-0 and have started the season strong despite injuries on defense and adjusting to life post-Stefon Diggs on offense.
Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars have not had the start that they had in mind with losses to the Browns and Dolphins. Offensively, they haven’t been able to find much rhythm. Lawrence had just 161 yards passing in Week 1 and then completed less than 50 percent of his passes in the loss last week.
The Bills escaped in Week 1, but came out with a dominant performance last week against the Dolphins. This is the officially the Josh Allen show and he is showing why he’s one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The volume stats haven’t necessarily been impressive, but Allen has played under control which is what the Bills need.
In the second game, the Bengals will be looking to avoid an 0-3 start as one of the surprising winless teams in the NFL. They had a shocking loss to the Patriots in Week 1 before a last second loss last week to the Chiefs. The Bengals will lean on Joe Burrow to lead them to a much needed win against the Commanders.
Jayden Daniels got his first win in the NFL last week against the New York Giants. The Commanders have been far from perfect, but Daniels has been one of the more fun players to watch through two weeks. Against a struggling Bengals team, Daniels will have an opportunity to pull off the upset.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Bills are 4.5 point favorites over the Jaguars. In the second game, the Bengals are 7.5 point favorites against the Commanders. It feels like these two lines should be flipped. The Jaguars have kept their first two games close, but the Bills have looked like a well-oiled machine. I’d expect them to win and cover at 4.5. Meanwhile, the Bengals looked better last week, but right now it’s hard to see them winning by more than a touchdown. Lou Anarumo could cause issues for Daniels, but the Commanders should find success running the ball.
The Picks: Bills (-4.5) and Commanders (+7.5)
Season Record: 5-3
