Cincinnati’s star receiver dominated from beginning to end.
Stunned. Embarrassed. Disappointed. Those are just a few words that sum up my emotions after the Cincinnati Bengals were stunned at home by the Washington Commanders on Ring of Honor night.
The defense laid one of the biggest eggs I can remember since the Joe Burrow era began back in 2020.
On the other side of the football, the offense was nearly perfect outside of a missed 48-yarder from Evan McPherson and a few red-zone trips that ended in short field goals.
Another specific positive was Ja’Marr Chase’s performance.
Chase finished the night with six catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns, including two deep shots that resulted in two scores. He caught just 10 balls for 97 yards combined in the team’s first two games before erupting on Monday Night Football.

This was the first time this season that Chase was not doubled nearly every snap, and he instantly took full advantage of it when he could.
This was also the first time this season that the Bengals offense found their swagger, but the defense was unable to create a single stop.
The Bengals are now 0-3 and face Andy Dalton next weekend, who has had success against Cincinnati since his departure.
Will the Bengals be able to turn the ship around? Time will tell, but at least they finally got Chase going. They’re not doing anything this year without him playing at an elite level.
