The Bengals took a loss that makes it very difficult to make the playoffs with an astoundingly terrible defensive performance.
Since 1979, there have been six NFL teams to start 0-3 and make the postseason.
Now, the Cincinnati Bengals will be trying to make it seven teams after a terrible loss to the Washington Commanders. The defense failed to get one single stop or turnover after playing well against the Chiefs in Week 2. The Bengals have a tiny margin of error the rest of the season, but they do still have a chance, the defense just has to figure out how to get some pressure.
Let’s see how Twitter reacted to the Bengals game against the Commanders.
All and Gesicki on back-to-back plays for first downs.
TEs still heavily involved this week.

Finally PA on that Erick All motion into counter they’ve run so much and it’s wide open for a short yardage conversion
Back to getting pretty much everything they want on offense on this drive

The Bengals lost Trent Brown early in the game, and luckily, rookie Amarius Mims was ready to come in, especially since it looks like Brown might be out for a while, if not the entire remainder of the season.
Cart coming out for Trent Brown.

This is why you drafted Mims
— Ace Boogie (@NewStripeCity) September 24, 2024
Bengals no longer have the option of easing Amarius Mims into the lineup. He’s their right tackle now
— Dallas Robinson (@DallasDRobinson) September 24, 2024
Chase Brown got more work against the Commanders, and he did a phenomenal job again, begging for more touches going forward.
I’m loving the Chase brown coming out party though.

A lot more Brown tonight

The Bengals made some questionable play calls in the red zone, which cost them in the end.
Circle that drive.
First and goal at the 8, sack, lose RT. Run up the middle for 5, incompletion on what looked like a mixup.#Bengals settle for FG. Trail 14-10 with 5:25 to go 2Q— Jay Morrison (@ByJayMorrison) September 24, 2024
Running on 2nd and goal from the 15

They were not in 4 down territory. Burrow throws a wobbler and doesn’t appear to be on the same page as Iosivas on that play.
The Bengals started with the ball, so now’d be a great time to get their first stop.

Things started to get out of hand quickly, though, when the Commanders pushed their lead out to two possessions.
Bengals drop Trey out and blitz Hilton on the other end to try to confuse their way into a pressure, Daniels stays in forever and then finds an easy rush lane for 5.
Then they lose McLaurin over the top and are staring down the barrell of a 2 score deficit.
McLaurin runs past…

Yep. This is going to be an 0-3 team. https://t.co/a2DohML0kL

Daniels with ALL DAY and goes to McLaurin over top of Cam Taylor-Britt for a 55-yard bomb.
Not bad for a nice little college offense. https://t.co/BhwXjDxIgX

Fans should be booing louder tbh

They’re yelling “booooo” not “Loooouu” at Paycor
— Jay Morrison (@ByJayMorrison) September 24, 2024
The Bengals defense was so unserious about getting a stop that for the second week in a row they gave up a touchdown pass to an offensive lineman.
Bengals have given up a receiving touchdown to an offensive lineman in two straight games. Has to be a record

The Bengals are in a rough spot after falling to 0-3, and given how bad the defense looked, let’s finish up with some comments from fans and coaches after the loss.
Taylor: “Right now there’s a lot of frustration … We are frustrated with ourselves.”
— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) September 24, 2024
Zac Taylor on Taylor-Britt’s comments about a “nice college offense.”: “That’s not what we do. We praise our own team. That team hasn’t punted in two weeks.”
— Paul Dehner Jr. (@pauldehnerjr) September 24, 2024
Looked bad last year and it continued. Father time is undefeated. With how 58 has looked this year their only hope is 99. https://t.co/0iBCKVvOef

Joe Burrow now leads the AFC in yards, TD and TD/INT Ratio.
They are 0-3..
This is the protection and scheme we’ve been waiting for.
Defense is trying to stop the titanic from sinking with a sham wow.

Zac: Didn’t envision being in this spot, but here we are. We’ve got to own it.
