Sean McVay spoke with the media after the Rams first win of the season
Sean McVay gave his post-game press conference after the Los Angeles Rams defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3 by a score or 27-24. It should be no surprise that the head coach loved how his team responded after getting pushed around in their Week 2 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. McVay talked about seeing a team that didn’t give up, kept pushing and he expressed a certain level of joy while reflecting on how his team delivered for him on Sunday.
“Our guys just kept competing, they kept fighting. Like I said…I saw a team respond after a really humbling week last week…three hours will never define you good or bad, unless you allow it to. And you know we gotta do a good job of being able to build on this. You know, this game’s gonna be over, it’s great to be able to get our first win in the fashion that we were able to get it, but how quickly can we sure ‘Hey let’s look at this, let’s clean it up, and let’s move forward.’ while make sure that there’s still a little bit of joy in terms of how you move. This will make for a good opportunity to progress and try to be able to build on this.”
LA was down 14-0 and found a way to win this game 27-24 without Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. The offense stepped up and defense made the stops that they needed to have. Special teams even had a big punt return with Xavier Smith which ultimately made a huge difference for the go-ahead field goal that LA ended up scoring. The Rams didn’t have a lead the entire game until that go ahead score with 2 seconds remaining in regulation.

There are 14 regular season games left for the Rams, and this may end up being their best win of the season. It could also be the type of win that Mcvay hopes it is: A win to build upon. This team showed in Week 3 that they can close out games which was something the team struggled with early on last season, but they improved as the season moved forward. Perhaps this team still has a chance to outperform last year’s team. McVay seems to believe it’s possible, and after a win like today others might start believing too.

Despite the negative outside noise surrounding this team since their Week 2 debacle, it looks like this team never stopped believing in itself. That showed up on Sunday. Now McVay wants to challenge his team to keep it going. Will the team be up for the task?
