Report: Frank Ragnow ‘week-to-week’ with pectoral injury

And the hits keep on rolling. Lions All-Pro center Frank Ragnow is reportedly considered week-to-week with a pectoral injury.

The bad news keeps coming for the Detroit Lions when it comes to injuries. After coach Dan Campbell revealed that defensive end Marcus Davenport is likely out for the year, and linebacker Derrick Barnes is expected to miss significant time, a new report from NFL Network suggests All-Pro center Frank Ragnow is considered week-to-week with a partially torn pectoral muscle.

It’s unclear when this happened in Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, but Ragnow finished the entire game without missing a single snap. Now it appears he may have to miss some time.

Detroit’s offensive line had played every single snap together through three games, but they’ll have to shuffle things up if Ragnow does, indeed, miss some time. The most obvious solution would be to slide left guard Graham Glasgow to center, and pull a reserve up into the starting lineup. Detroit’s most likely option to start at left guard would be Kayode Awosika—who started three games at left guard for Detroit last year, including the NFC Championship game. The Lions could also turn to Michael Niese or Colby Sorsdal at guard. It’s worth noting rookie Christian Mahogany has one more week on the Non-Football Illness list before he can be activated.

As for Ragnow, we’ll see how he recovers. He has a reputation as one of the toughest players on the team. He’s played through a chronic toe injury, a fractured throat, and several other ailments throughout his career. Hopefully, he’ll have a swift recovery here.
