Cam Taylor-Britt talks the talk for second straight week

The Bengals third-year cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt has not minced words this season, and he’s talking the talk going into Monday Night Football in Week 3.

I’m not going to lie. At first, I didn’t like what Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt has done the last two weeks now. He’s been offering up bulletin board material, but I’m starting to like what he’s doing.

This is what Bengals opponents did in previous years, giving the Bengals bulletin board material. Now, Taylor-Britt may be doing it, but he’s already backed it up against the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Now, Taylor-Britt is talking the talk leading up to the Bengals Monday Night Football matchup with the Washington Commanders. The Bengals’ third-year cornerback was talking about Commanders rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels this week and said the following.

“Composed. They don’t make him do a lot. They keep it really simple for him,” Taylor-Britt told reporters on Thursday. “Nice college offense, Kingsbury’s the OC. They’ll move guys around here and there, but just keep it real simple for him. I heard his pass percentage is pretty high, but he’s only throwing short routes. Some intermediate stuff, quick throws.”

Daniels was this year’s No. 2 overall pick and won the Heisman Trophy in 2023. He has yet to throw a touchdown in two starts, but he did lead the Commanders to their first win in 2024 last week against the New York Giants.

Daniels has done well from a stats standpoint through two weeks with 410 passing yards and 132 rushing yards, and he has also rushed for two touchdowns.

Kliff Kingsbury is in his first season with the Commanders as their offensive coordinator. He was previously the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals for four seasons, helping develop Kyler Murray into a dynamic quarterback and lead the Cardinals to an 11-6 record and playoff berth in 2021.

Here’s the thing: if Taylor-Britt keeps walking the walk, I don’t have a problem with anything he says leading up to games. The Bengals haven’t had a trash-talking cornerback since… when? Enjoy the fact that the Bengals have someone like Taylor-Britt on their team.

The Bengals are 0-2 for a third straight season, but it feels like this team is still confident. They’ve been here before, and they’ve responded nicely the last two seasons. What Taylor-Britt is doing can be viewed as arrogant and stupid by the fanbases of other teams. As a Bengals fan, I like it. This team needs some confidence, and I think they’re getting it back. If they get their first win of the season on Monday night, I think that will springboard a string of victories. There’s still a lot of football left to be played and, potentially, a lot of talking to come for Taylor-Britt.
