Are you ready for some football?
The Bengals take on the Washington Commanders on Monday night. Here is what they need to do to finally get the W.
Stop the Run
The Bengals have struggled to stop the run and that will be particularly important this week. Commanders running back Brain Robinson Jr has rushed for 173 yards this season and is the driving force behind their offensive success. The Bengals defensive interior remains banged -up, so stopping Robinson will not be easy.
Play from the Front
One way to stop the run is to force them to pass. The Bengals need to take an early lead over the Commanders out of their run-first style as they try to play catchup on the scoreboard. Tee Higgins’s expected return could play a big part in this.
Contain the QB
Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has also had well over 100 rushing yards this season. Keeping him in the pocket and not allowing him to extend plays with his feet will be key to stopping this offense.
Red-Zone Defense
This is a great matchup for the Bengals because their defense is great in the Red Zone, while the Commanders are frequently forced to settle for field goals. This trend must continue for the Bengals to be successful on Monday Night Football.
Run the Rock
The Bengals need to find a dependable rushing attack to close the game. That is how you put teams away in the 4th quarter. So far, the ground game hasn’t done enough to help this team win two games that were ultimately decided by seven total points. The Bengals enter Week 3 with the third-worst rushing offense. Washington ranks 16th in run defense.
